The Spanish-Venezuelan tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza qualified for the third round of the tournament in San Diego (United States), scoring for the WTA and which is played on hard court, after beating the American Ann Li on Tuesday by a double 6-4 .
The Caracas player, second seed of the event, returned to action after the US Open and did so with a hard-fought victory over the 21-year-old against whom she almost always led the way on the scoreboard.
Li was able to balance the first break that she conceded at the start of the match, but she gave the serve again afterwards, and the double winner of the Grand Slam no longer forgave that advantage to close the first set without problems.
In the second, Muguruza repeated the script, with a break in the opening bars, but that the American knew how to balance. However, with 4-4 on the scoreboard, the Spanish-Venezuelan pressed to break again and later end the contest.
