Ted Hendricks, the only Guatemalan who has played in the NFL

Reaching the elite of American football is something that not many can boast about, but there is a Guatemalan who engraved his name in gold letters in the history of the National Football League -NFL-.

Born in Guatemala on November 1, 1947, Theodore Paul Hendricks played in the american football league most famous in the world for 15 years. In addition, he obtained several awards at the individual level and in the teams with which he played during his professional career.

Hendricks lived all his childhood and adolescence in Guatemala. It was until 18 years old when he left for the United States to study at the university. He currently has a Guatemalan residence.

Multi-time champion in the NFL

The player of American parents began his sports career playing for the Miami Hurricanes. During his university stage, he stood out as defensive between 1966 and 1968.

He was also selected three times as All-American. He is considered one of the greatest defensive players in the history of college football, entering the Hall of Fame in 1987. The team of Miami he retired his number in 1997.
