Super Cup 2021, Virtus Bologna beats Tortona in the final

The Virtus Bologna, despite the bad percentages from the arc and the fear of Ekpe Udoh’s injury, he beats an excellent Bertram Tortona, which proves to be able to play even with the big names. The next match for the Italian champions will be on Monday 20 against Reyer Venice, fresh from today’s match against Carpegna Pesaro Ham.

Virtus Bologna-Bertram Tortona: the analysis of the match

The first half ended in total balance, with Tortona who managed to contain the attacks of the Bolognese team managing to make effective changes in the man defense, thanks to the non-optimal form of Alessandro Pajola and of Milos Teodosic, the latter expelled in the final for the sum of a technical foul and an unsportsmanlike one.

The MVP of the evening is absolute Kevin Hervey, which produced a sensational double double formed by 18 points and 18 rebounds in 26 minutes, managing to limit even Tortona’s long shots. Mike Daum he was instead the best of his, with 19 points, despite having entered with wet powders in the last period. Amedeo Tessitori he was fundamental after Udoh’s exit, managing to get even 9 fouls whistled and going in double figures in the points scored.

The percentages from the arc were low for both teams, also thanks to the good defenses on the outside, even if the coaching team Marco Ramondino he improved them slightly in the last quarter trying to get back into the game. The real alarm for the Piedmontese team, however, concerns the turnovers (18), since it allowed the team to Sergio Scariolo to take the game home. However, it must be said that we are only at the beginning of the season, so it is also to be taken into consideration that the teams are not well run-in.

Wet powders for Jalen Cannon, who left the match with 0 points and 5 fouls, on which there will be a lot of work before the start of the championship. Chris Wright, on the other hand, was the author of an excellent match, having put his teammates in rhythm with 9 assists.
