Sports journalism mourns the “professor”, Vito Maggio who died at the age of 90

A life dedicated to sport, especially football and baseball, journalism and family. Professor Vito Maggio, historical reporter for the Giornale di Sicilia and correspondent for the Gazzetta dello Sport, passed away this morning at the age of 90. He has been telling the football adventures of the rosanero for years with professionalism and passion. The news was given by the son with a post published directly from the father’s Facebook profile.

During his long career he has collaborated with various newspapers and contributed to the realization of numerous projects between the world of sport and that of publishing. He was director of TeleSicilia but also executive of the baseball and softball federation and wrote, together with others, a volume for the centenary of the Palermo team, “Palermo, a hundred years of history”. The funeral will be celebrated on Saturday 19 September, 11.30 am, in the church of Sant ‘Espedito.
