Spicy! Dutch legend says Van De Beek isn’t good enough

Jakarta

Donny van de Beek is still struggling to get a place at Manchester United. The legendary Dutch striker Marco van Basten said Van de Beek was not that good.

Donny van de Beek was bought by Manchester United from Ajax in the summer of 2020 for £35 million. He made 36 appearances in his first season, but spent an average of just 40 on the pitch.

This season the 24-year-old midfielder has not been trusted to appear even by Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The situation is back in the spotlight, considering that previously there were high expectations on the shoulders of the Dutch national team player.

Legendary Dutch striker Marco van Basten said Van de Beek was not that good at carrying a big European team. His game in the Netherlands cannot be a measure, especially considering he was linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid before leaving Ajax.

“It was really not a smart choice. If you say you spoke to Real Madrid and then went to Manchester United, you are betting too much,” he told Soccer Zone quoted Mirror.

“Van de Beek is not that good. Playing as a number 10 at Ajax is much easier than in Spain or England. In Holland, you get a lot of help, you get opportunities, but the situation is not like that abroad,” added the man who was two won the Champions League with AC Milan this time.
