Just a few weeks after moving from RB Leipzig, Nagelsmann is already enjoying working for the German record champion. In Munich he no longer travels to away games as an “underdog”, but with the clear aim of winning them. “I’m incredibly happy. It was also exciting for me to see what it is like to work with world stars,” said the coach without a title. Then he praised the “playing assistant coach” Müller and the extremely greedy striker Lewandowski. “Lewy doesn’t stop. That’s a character trait,” said Nagelsmann.
The 33-year-old Lewandowski is now 75 goals in the most important club competition, the only one year younger Müller at 49. “I like to score against Barcelona,” joked Barça-Schreck Müller a year after the 8: 2 in Lisbon and meanwhile seven goals in six games against the Catalans. “It is very important to get the first three points and to radiate a dominance. We have put an exclamation mark”, announced captain Manuel Neuer.
The hopeless and shockingly harmless hosts lacked Messi’s “certain special things”, as Nagelsmann said: “A great player broke away.” The Bayern coach assessed the cleared victory as something of a Munich contribution: “We just did very well, that’s the key.”
