Salvador Pérez homered and took the lead in RBIs

Sports Leader, Jesús David Castellano (@_JDCastellano) .- The Venezuelan Salvador Perez he dispatched his 43rd home run of the season Tuesday night in a 10-run to 7 victory for the Kansas City Royals in the series opener against the Oakland Athletics at Kaufmann Stadium.

The Creole hit two hits in five at-bats, with a strikeout, a pair of runs scored and four RBIs to reach 109 so far this season, to take the absolute lead in this department, two units above José Abreu.

This was the 41st game of two or more indisputable for Salvador, which represents the most of his career, surpassing the 40 of 2014, even equaling the total number of times at bat he needed to achieve it (168). For his part, he tied his 14th game of four produced or more, equaling with Richard Hidalgo and within the Royals franchise with Puerto Ricans José Tartabull and Carlos Beltrán and an emblem of the organization such as Alex Gordon.

Similarly, Salvador got two homers away from equaling Johnny Bench (45, 1970) as the mask with the most hits in a season, however, of Pérez’s 43 home runs, only 29 have been defending the number 2 position, while that Bench gave 38 when he put on the mask and implements.

A historic harvest

Meanwhile, Pérez is the fifth Venezuelan with a campaign of 43 homers and 109 brought to the plate or more.

As we can see in the image, only Andrés Galarraga, Miguel Cabrera and Antonio Armas culminated their seasons at the top of these departments, so if Salvador achieved this feat or was very close, we would be talking about, indisputably, his best season in the Major Suspenders; In addition to allowing him to obtain some votes for the MVP award of the new circuit at the end of the campaign, however, the performance that the others involved in these leaderships may have in this closing of the harvest must also be taken into account.
