Running Out of Money, Former Persib Coach Deported from Indonesia

KOMPAS.com – Former coach of Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta, Arcan Iurie, was deported from Indonesia after running out of money and unable to pay the fine overstay.

The former Persib coach was deported because his residence permit in Indonesia had expired in 2019.

Arcan Iurie’s financial condition is known to be not good. The Moldovan coach is said to have run out of money.

Apart from having no income, Acan Iurie has also spent his savings money for treatment due to a stroke since 2008.

This condition makes Arcan Iurie unable to pay the fine overstay after 60 days from the expiration of his Permanent Stay Permit Card (Kitap).

The news of Acan Iurie’s deportation was confirmed by the Head of Sub-Section (Kasubsi) for Immigration Enforcement Class 1 Non TPI Karawang Adrian Nugroho.

Adrian Nugroho said that Lurie violated Article 78 paragraph 3 concerning Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration so that the immigration authorities gave sanctions of deportation and deterrence.

“Arcan Iurie was deported from Indonesia on July 16, 2021 using a Turkis Airlines plane and transited in Istanbul, then continued to Moldova,” said Adrian when met at the Immigration Office Class 1 Non TPI Karawang, Tuesday (14/9/2021).

To investigators, Lurie admitted that she knew her Kitap had run out in 2019.

However, he could not pay the overstay fine because the money had run out for treatment.

The Lurie is registered as living in Graha Housing, Purwadana Village, East Telukjambe District, Karawang Regency. However, he went back and forth to Bandung.

“He was sponsored by his wife, a resident here. He was also sponsored by PSSI,” said Adrian.

Despite being deported, the former Persib coach was allowed to re-enter Indonesian territory after six months.

Arcan Iurie started his career in Indonesia in the early 2000s. He has also coached a number of top clubs in the country, ranging from Persib, Persija, to Persebaya Surabaya.

The former Persib coach has also coached Persik Kediri, Semen Padang, Bhayangkara FC, Persita Tangerang, Madura FC, Borneo FC, Cilegon FC, Aceh Dispora, and finally the Manokwari Football Association. (Karawang contributor, Farida Farhan)
