The Remscheid TV JUDOTEAM also won twice on the second day of the fight in the 2nd Bundesliga. In Leverkusen, the Bergisch won 4: 3 against the team of JT Holten and then celebrated a 6: 1 victory over SV Nienhagen.

Made the start against Holten Rodel Arnolds (-73 kilograms). He dominated his opponent from the start, scored two clear scores and thus secured the Remscheid lead. Put just as confidently Sascha Schmitz (-100) by defeating his opponent with a handle. Bas Koffijberg (-66) made 3-0 and after with a remarkable shoulder throw Cedric Thyssen (-90) chose the wrong tactic and lost, took Jannis Leonhard (+100) the decisive fourth point for the JUDOTEAM. What happened next was unusual. Captain and birthday child Junior Degen (-81) lost a fight for Remscheid for the first time. The likable Dutchman has been playing for the Bergische since 2014 and has won each of his 50 fights up to that day. An unbelievable record, but then it hit him too. And the next duel also went to the opponent, because Christos Pintsis (-60) was also left behind.

This close 4: 3 success was displeased by coaches Peter Degen. He addressed the team with a clear address, which promptly reacted against SV Nienhagen. Rodel Arnolds was again very dominant, showed great judo and won early. Sascha Schmitz and Bas Koffijberg followed up with more quick victories and Cedric Thyssen, improved in shape, got the point to make it 4-0. The fact that Jannis Leonhardt (+100) had to give up his fight was ultimately just a “blemish”, because Junior Degen and Christos Pintsis were strengthened again to 6: 1. With this double success, the JUDOTEAM continues to lead the table. Tied behind them, TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen is lurking ahead of JC Koriouchi Gelsenkirchen. The fact that these two teams are the opponents of the Remscheid team on the decisive last day of the fight on October 2nd in Remscheid makes the season finale a real thriller. Only one of the three teams can become champions and thus move up to the first division. If you want to be part of this historical spectacle in the Neuenkamp sports hall, you can secure tickets now at the Remscheider TV office.
