Round strategy, mercenary management and many decisions in the big successor

The biggest announcement at THQ Nordic Showcase was Jagged Alliance 3 for PC. The game is said to be “very early” in development, but should at least be announced for the publisher’s tenth anniversary. The project is being developed by Haemimont Games from Bulgaria (approx. 50 employees), who work for Surviving Mars (2018), Victor Vran (2015), Tropico 5 (2014), Omerta – City of Gangsters (2013) and Tropico 4 (2011 ) were responsible. According to publisher THQ Nordic, Haemimont Games approached them and presented convincing ideas for the game. Jagged Alliance is a matter close to her heart.

In Jagged Alliance 3 you have to free the island “Grand Chien”. You put together one or more mercenary teams and try to free the old president and his family from the clutches of the paramilitary “Legion”. The basic concept is based on Jagged Alliance 2 and the fights take place in round mode – although the camera perspective when aiming is reminiscent of XCOM, you will be able to target specific parts of the body. The world map will also offer many (and well-known) possibilities. So you will be able to conquer territories, train local troops, control several mercenary parties and actively fight against people. Exploring the areas and making decisions in the talks should also be important while equipping and upgrading the mercenaries. Notes that have been received in conversations are recorded in a “notebook”, for example. Even a co-op multiplayer mode (online) is planned. More details about the game will not be published until later.

In the run-up to the start of production, a lot of market research was carried out among the JA fans, e.g. what the portraits of the mercenaries should look like and how the look and tone should be in general. Also what the last parts did badly was specifically asked. In general, a lot of emphasis should be placed on the characters, who should continue to be based on 90s action films. The mercenary characters Ivan, Vicki, Buns, Fidel, Text, Red, Wolf, Hitman, Fauda, MD, Igor and Steroid can be seen in the trailer. Each character will have their own perks (e.g. a former baseball pitcher can throw very far) and of course get level-ups as the game progresses.
