Regensburg claims leadership in the second division

Dhe SSV Jahn Regensburg remains the front runner in the 2nd Bundesliga and has even extended its lead in the table despite a missed victory. In a heated Bayern derby against the still unbeaten 1. FC Nürnberg, the Upper Palatinate came to a 2: 2 (1: 1) in front of 10,105 spectators. The lead over the runner-up increased to two points, as SC Paderborn lost 1-0 to Schalke 04.

Lino Tempelmann (19th) and Nikola Dovedan (79th) met for the Franks, while Max Besuschkow (38th) and Erik Wekesser (53rd) were successful on the Regensburg side. With 13 points the Regensburg still lead the table, the FCN remains in midfield.

Finally, Wekesser circled a free kick from around 20 meters into the corner, which was untenable. Dovedan ensured the deserved compensation in a hectic final phase. Shortly afterwards, Manuel Schäffler (89th) saw the red card after a nasty red foul.

Narrow field at the top of the table

After six match days, the leading group is close together behind Regensburg. Schalke 04 in seventh place with ten points are now just three points behind the leaders. On Sunday the Royal Blues inflicted their first defeat on the brilliantly started SC Paderborn. In the west duel, the Bundesliga relegated won 1-0 (0-0) thanks to Simon Terodde. For the striker, who scored in the 63rd minute, it was the seventh goal of the season.
