The team of coach Carlo Ancelotti seemed on their way to its first defeat this season in La Liga. In the 86th minute, however, Brazilian Vinícius Júnior equalized on a pass from captain Karim Benzema. Barely two minutes later, the division of roles was reversed and Benzema scored after an assist from Vinícius: 1-2. Hugo Duro had opened the scoring for Valencia. Before that, Thibaut Courtois had to work a few times. Valencia on their way to a (deserved) victory, but the Royal corrected the crooked situation after all.
That happened without Eden Hazard. The Red Devil did start the match and started sharply, but started to doubt again, deemstered away and was substituted in minute 78 and therefore for the big turnaround.
Thanks to the late break in Valencia, Real are alone in the lead, with 13 points from five games. Atlético Madrid remained at home against Athletic Club at 0-0. The national champion is second, with 11 points. Valencia occupies third place with 10 points, the same as Real Sociedad who drew at home against Sevilla (0-0).
