Rahm and Cabrera, yes to Valderrama, García almost ruled out and very complicated Jiménez

Sergio garcia, number 43 in the world rankings, is practically ruled out to play the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters, competition of European Circuit which will have the presence of Jon Rahm, current world number one and recent champion of the US Open, according to the director of Tournaments of the European Tour Jose Maria Zamora in the presentation of the same carried out this Thursday in Madrid.

“Sergio, due to the calendar, is going to be very complicated,” said Zamora at the Estrella Damm presentation, which will take place between October 14 and 17 at the Real Club Valderrama (Cádiz).

“Right now, Sergio García is close to 50th in the world rankings and in order to be able to ensure he will compete in the four ‘bigs’ next year, he should try to be among the top 50 at the end of the year. In the same week of the Andalucía Masters the CJ Cup is disputed, a tournament where many points are played. Right now it is his priority to ensure the possibility of competing in the four ‘majors’ next season “, explained the director of the European Circuit himself, who also described it as” very complicated “the presence of the veteran Miguel Angel Jimenez for “commitments to their sponsors.”

As opposed, Rafa Cabrera, a player who resigned from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, confirmed his presence at the Cádiz tournament this morning. The canary will return to the Valderrama Club ten years after his last participation in the competition.

Zamora also stated that the Andalucía Masters wants to host nearly 10,000 daily attendees so that they can enjoy the competition. Likewise, he stated that the organization works so that “two or three” players who are part of the Ryder Cup team confirm their attendance at the tournament.

“As for regulations, right now you can have two thousand spectators. We are going to have a meeting next Tuesday to try to expand the capacity to ten thousand, something that we think is quite logical considering that it is a golf course of sixty hectares. We believe that it is a fairly safe site to be able to see the competition. I believe that we will achieve it, nobody will be left out. Anyone who wants to go to see the tournament will be able to see it, “he explained.

In the presentation of the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters, in addition to Zamora, they were present Nuno de Brito, president of the Valderrama Club; Manuel Pablo Muñoz, Secretary General of Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía; and Jaime Salaverri, vice president of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation (RFEG).
