Querétaro Municipality Recognizes Basketball Medalists – Update México

The State Basketball Team who represented Queretaro in the Nationals of CONADE, was the object of a deserved recognition by the Institute of Sports and Recreation of the Municipality of Querétaro after achieving the Silver medal in this discipline in the men’s category 2003-2004.

“This feat, this sporting feat achieved with dedication, personality and character, is a source of pride for Queretans,” Hugo Aguilar Rangel, Director of Municipal Sports, told them in his message on behalf of the Mayor. Luis Nava and the Secretary of Human and Social Development, Arturo Torres.

Gathered today on the covered basketball court of the Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez Sports Unit, the coaches Daniel Avendaño and Jorge Rincón and the team of players with the head of the sport in this municipality, wore their medals and the trophy that accredits them as runners-up of the national competition, thanked all the support that the municipality has given them to achieve their sporting goals.

This selection pointed Daniel Avendaño, Head Coach of the team, was the only one that achieved a medal in team sports in these CONADE 2021 Nationals, out of 12 that participated for our entity and 36 disciplines in total in which there was Queretaro participation, (24 individuals).

This selection participated in the 2021 CONADE Nationals, which, in the basketball discipline, was held at Oaxtepec., From August 23 to 29; He played the final against Michoacán, losing 66-60 to win the silver medal.
Installed in the so-called Group of Death, first they beat Chihuahua by 3 points, then Sinaloa by a basket, Puebla by 6 and in the duel for the first place of the group they fell with Michoacán himself by beating, 30 points of difference.

In the semifinals they beat Mexico City by 2 points and from there to the final against the Michoacanos.
Its members are: Diego Pérez, Juan Gallegos who by the way fractured his right hand in the match against Sinaloa and underwent surgery, but there he was encouraging his teammates; Carlos Olvera, Marcos Zárate, Juan Diego Abreu, Iván Mayo, Daniel Zárate, Jorge Lazo, Eliab Álvarez, Allan Carroll, Josué Rivera and Christian Díaz.
