Quebec Provincial Baseball Championships: the Côte-Nord will have to catch up in the “A”

The baseball season ended at the end of last week for many North Shore people, when the Quebec Baseball “B” Provincial Championships were being held. The course of the formations representing the region stopped in the quarter-finals for the U11 and after two games for the U15.

In the U11, in Varennes, the Mariniers de la Côte-Nord made sure to continue beyond the minimum two games with victories of 7-5 on Friday against the Brewers of Delta-Laval and 5-4 the next day against the Lords of Boucherville.

The Louiseville Wolves ended their hopes of a medal with a 7-6 quarterfinal victory on Saturday evening.

The team representing the Mauricie subsequently lost in the gold medal game.

“What a quarter-final! Louisville took the lead early in the game, we (Wolves) caught up in the middle and they took the lead late in the game. So much so that at the end of the last round, we lost 7 to 5 with their big pitcher on the mound. We filled the goals with one out, then a second. The next hitter was hit for a point (7 to 6), ”summarized coach Stéphane Gallant.

Everything was still allowed. However, the Mariniers’ solid shot was blocked by the shortstop, who then struck out the runner on second “to end our fairy tale. Two feet next to each other and we won. An incredible weekend and new friendships created. Already looking forward to next year, ”concluded Coach Gallant.

U15

In the U15, in Longueuil, the Sept-Îles Pat’s only had one night to savor their 13-12 victory over the Gatineau Royal in their first game of the Provincial Championship played late on Friday.

They were back on the pitch less than twelve hours later for the first game of the day on Saturday. The colors of the Sept-Îles Minor Baseball Association lost 13-2 to the Braves de Beloeil, thus seeing their tournament ended.
