Paris 2024 | 15 renovated 3×3 basketball courts in Paris

Pierre Rabadan, Deputy Mayor of Paris, in charge of sport and the Olympic and Paralympic Games and Jean-Pierre Siutat, President of the French Federation of BasketBall, signed a cooperation agreement between the City of Paris and the French Federation of BasketBall for the renovation of 15 Parisian 3X3 basketball playgrounds. This agreement is supported by the Caisse d’Epargne and the Agence Nationale du Sport.

This agreement has several objectives:

  • Develop the basketball in Paris, in particular the new Olympic discipline, the 3×3 ;
  • Embellish the Parisian territory by creating a artistic work on the ground in association with local actors;
  • Associate the clubs and the local associations to animate the courts and develop new actions (women’s basketball, health basketball, inclusive basketball, etc.).

On June 8, the inauguration of the boulevard Vincent-Auriol (XIIIth) designated by the Atlas, as part of the launch of the useful pact of the Savings Bank, had started deliveries of the renovations. Last weekend, these are the 3 grounds of the park Jules Ladoumègue in the 19e arrondissement and the 3 plots of the square du Dr Calmette in the 15th district which were unveiled to the public.

In the coming months, it will be the turn of 5 other sites to be redeveloped: Eole, 18e (1 terrain), Serurier, 19e (2 terrains), square Charles-Hermite, 18e (1 terrain), Montsouris park, 14e (1 field), Léo-Lagrange, 12e (2 fields). Two other sites will also be renovated by the City of Paris within the framework of the participatory budget (the square Léon in the 18e and the square Claude-Bernard in the 19e).

These 15 lands are the first material heritage of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, binder art and sport and opening the Cultural Olympiad in Paris.

Addressing both lovers of basketball and urban art, these grounds will integrate perfectly into their environment and will make the pride of Parisians.».
