Paralympics. Record-breaking Azzurri: here are all the medals of Italy in Tokyo 2020

69 medals in 11 disciplines: never so good for the Italian team at a Paralympics

It was one of Most exciting Paralympics ever, the one that ended yesterday, with the closing ceremony in Tokyo the next day the wonderful triplet of athletics girls, who painted the entire podium with tricolor in the 300 meters.

For Italy, the Japanese adventure was a harbinger of successes: never so many medals from its history! The blue athletes participating in Tokyo 2020 bring home ben 69 medals between gold, silver and bronze, and an awareness: the Italian Paralympic sport is in excellent health.

Eleven disciplines in which a blue has trod at least one step of the podium: archery, athletics, canoeing, cycling, horse riding, judo, shooting, swimming, table tennis, triathlon and fencing.

Here all the medaled protagonists of the blue delegation in Tokyo 2020:

I SWIM
Swimming is the voice that brings home the highest number of medals: a real shower of titles for the Azzurri (39 total, 11 of which gold)!
Arjola Trimi takes home 4 medals (2 of which gold): Gold in the 100 freestyle and in the 50 breaststroke of the S3 category but also silver in the 50 freestyle S3-S4 and with the 4×50 freestyle relay.
Carlotta Gilli won 5 medals (2 of which gold): Gold in the 100 butterfly S13 and 200 medley SM13, won silver in the 100 backstroke and 400 freestyle, and bronze in the 50 freestyle.
Francesco Bocciardo won two golds: in the 100 and 200 freestyle S5.
Giulia Terzi: gold in the 100 freestyle S7 and with the 4×100 relay, but also silver in the 400 freestyle and 4×50 relay and bronze in the 50 butterfly S7.
Antonio Fantin gold in the 100 freestyle S6 and
Simone Barlaam gold in the 50s freestyle S9.
Stefano Raimondi is gold in the 100 SB9 backstroke, bronze in the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay, two silvers:
Francesco Bettella is BRONZE IN 100 back and 50 back (cat.S1)
Luigi Beggiato bronze in 50 freestyle (S4)
Monica Boggioni buy two bronzes at home: in the 100 and 200 freestyle (cat. S5)
Xenia Palazzo is bronze in the 50 and 400 freestyle S8.

ATHLETICS
As we said, among the last exciting moments of Tokyo 2020 the all-tricolor podium in the 300 meters with the fantastic onesAmber Sabatini, gold and world records, Martina Caironi, silver and Monica Contrafatto, bronze.
Athletics, in addition to the silver for Martina Caironi also in the long jump T63, also records the two silvers of Assunta Legnante in the shot put and discus throw and the two bronze of Oney Tapia in discus throwing and shot put (category of athletes with visual impairments). A bronze also arrives in 1500 m (cat. T20) from Ndiaga Deng.

FENCING
Still gold for Baby saw in women’s foil (cat.B), and silver in team foil with Loredana Trigilia and Ionela Andrea Mogos.

ARCO
In the open recurve bow there is silver for Vincenza Petrilli and bronze in the women’s Compound Opena for Maria Andrea Virgilio.

CYCLING
With Alex Zanardi always alive in the thoughts of his teammates, the cycling team takes home a silver in the men’s time trial won by Fabrizio Cornegliani, Luca Mazzone and Giorgio Farroni. Silver for Mazzone also in the road race.
The great one is still confirmed Francesca Porcellato, silver in the women’s chrono (cta. H1-3). Katia Aere takes home a bronze in the cat road race. H5.

TRATHLON
The Triathlon has the silver of Anna Barbaro and two bronzes: those of Giovanni Achenza (PTWC maschine) and of Veronika Yoko Plebani (PTS2).

CANOE
Bronze also in the single kayak for Federico Mancarella, in the 200m sport class KL2.

EQUITATION
Two bronzes from horseback riding are those conquered by Sara Morganti in the GI sports class, in the individual test and in free style.

JUDO
Judo also takes home the bronze with Carolina Costa in blasse B2 (+70 kg)

SHOOTING
Andrea Liverani wins bronze in shooting (class SH2).

TABLE TENNIS
The women’s team wins bronze (classes 1-3) with Michela Brunelli and Giada Ross
