OH Leuven beats KV Kortrijk 2-1 and records first win of the season | Matchday 7 Jupiler Pro League

Jupiler Pro LeagueAfter four draws, OHL has won its first win of the season. KV Kortrijk went for the ax after a pleasant spectacle with 2-1. Substitute Siebe Schrijvers provided the liberating goal with a nice long shot.

After six matchdays, OH Leuven still had no victory on the counter. Marc Brys managed to bring in a few new guys on the final days of the transfer window, of whom only Soufian Chakla made his debut in the starting lineup. At KV Kortrijk – which has had a nice start to the season with 10 out of 18 – newcomer Kadri started between the lines for the first time.

The organization was good at OHL. The first attempt came from Mathieu Maertens’ foot, but the wind went wide of the top corner. The first big chance came from Alexis De Sart’s head after a flashy action by Tamari, but KVK goalkeeper Ilic was in the way. On the other side, Gueye was a few shoe sizes short to give the visitors the lead.

The biggest opportunity of the first 45 minutes was for Maertens. On Mercier’s pass, he kicked the crossbar across the crossbar. OHL goalie Romo kept Moreno from the 0-1, but after a highly entertaining first half it was still 0-0.

Immediately after the break, OHL got what it deserved. Alexis De Sart – one of the newcomers – was allowed to go for goal and kicked the leather very hard in the intersection. His first for the people of Leuven. Immediately afterwards, Rezaei missed a huge chance at 2-0. Just before the hour, substitute Alioui took the opportunity to equalize after a sharp counter.

KV Kortrijk was rewarded not much later for the attacking intentions. Selemani equalized bone-dry with a low slider. The game then went quiet. Both teams seemed to choose eggs for their money, but that was not counted on substitute Siebe Schrijvers. Twelve minutes before the end, he managed to make it 2-1 with a wonderful long shot. A volley from Selemani licked the crossbar, but to no avail for the Guys. KVK ended the game with 10 after red for Radovanovic. Party at Den Dreef, because OHL has the first three-pointer of the year.
