Shaquille O’Neal has never liked Superteams and this sentiment has never hidden it. He too, like many other NBA players, found himself in difficult situations, but he never gave in to the possibility of joining other opponents to form an unstoppable battleship.
The former center went on to say, during the podcast Big Shot Bob, who does not respect players who join big teams to win easy titles, stating that this is a peculiar trait of this Era of basketball, different from how his was. These are his words:
“This is a new era. We saw what the previous one in which we all gave our all to win. Before, there were people like me and Big Shot Rob showing what respect was to others. Trust me, if I had known there would be no problem signing with another team after the Houston Rockets destroyed me in ’94, then I would have played with Hakeem. Or I would have played alongside Tim Duncan or David Robinson. I could have done that. But I didn’t. I preferred to lick my wounds and work hard to defeat those who beat me… and in the end I succeeded. In the end I have four rings and Rob has seven. “
