NBA News: Setback for Caris LeVert

Caris LeVert suffered a stress fracture in her back. This is what Adrian Wojnarowski reports from ESPN. The Indiana Pacers Guard will miss the pre-season.

It is not yet entirely clear when the 27-year-old will be able to return to the floor. According to Woj, the Pacers organization is optimistic that it will only be a “small setback” and that he will be able to celebrate his comeback “around the start of the season”.

Further medical examinations in the coming days should provide a clearer picture of the injury and the possible schedule of return, Wojnarwoski said, referring to anonymous sources.

LeVert has struggled with injury concerns over and over again in his career. After his trade from the Brooklyn Nets to the Indiana Pacers in January 2021 as part of the James Harden deal, kidney cancer was discovered during the medical check-up that had to be surgically removed. After his return to the court, he put on 20.7 points and 4.9 assists for Indiana in 35 appearances.

The Pacers are apparently followed by bad luck with injuries in the pre-season phase. Edmond Sumner suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in September that will likely put him out of action for the entire season. In addition, it became known that TJ Warren’s healing process (fracture in his left foot) is not as fast as originally thought. He is also out for the time being.
