NBA 2K22 Release Date: September 10th notice
There is a well-known pattern for the release dates of 2K’s beautiful baller. NBA 2K18 arrived on September 15, 2018, NBA 2K19 landed on September 7, 2018, while September 5, 2019 and September 4, 2020 were the respective street dates for NBA 2K20 and NBA 2K21. The versions for PS5 and XBox Series X came out a little later, in mid-November, but that was only due to the pre-Christmas release of these consoles.
Synchronicity across all formats and generations will be restored this year on Friday, September 10, 2021, the confirmed release date of NBA 2K22. It’s available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
NBA 2K22 Cover: Parker and Doncic share the honor
I am very proud and humble to be the first female cover athlete in @ NBA2K history. I am honored to work with a company that invests in women and is committed to our success. I hope many more tough women will follow pic.twitter.com/WJan4YE7QtJuly 14, 2021

The tragic death of basketball legend Kobe Bryant at just 41 years old led 2K to break convention on the NBA 2K21 cover. As a tribute, it produced a limited “Mamba Forever” edition of the game with Bryant on the box, while the standard editions had separate cover stars for each generation of consoles. PS5 and Xbox Series X were led by New Orleans Pelicans power forward Zion Williamson, while Trail Blazer’s point guard Damian Lilliard became the focus of PS4 and Xbox One.
NBA 2K22 shatters convention again, but in a very different way, with Chicago Sky Power Forward Candace Parker, the first ever female NBA 2K cover star. Parker leads the WNBA 25th Anniversary Edition of the game with a catch – its cover version is only available in North America. Shame. Still, it’s a welcome breakthrough.
The main character of NBA 2K22 is Mavericks Guard Luka Doncic. “Doing the global cover of NBA 2K22 is something special for me,” says the Slovenian giant. “I am proud to represent my country in a special cover that pays tribute to the colors of the Slovenian flag. Basketball has given me so much and I’m excited to be giving back this year and working with 2K Foundations to support the lives of young children around the world. ”

NBA 2K22 Ratings: LeBron shares top spot
Luka Doncic might have earned cover star honors. but he only sneaks into eighth place on the NBA 2K22 rating list. And while LeBron James was the stand-alone top player in NBA 2K21, this year he shares the first settlement with Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Steph Curry, all of whom have an overall rating of 96. (James scored 97 points a year ago.)
These are the top ten players in the game, as measured by the NBA 2K22 ratings at launch:
- Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers, 96)
- Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets, 96)
- Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks, 96)
- Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors, 96)
- Kawhi Leonard (Los Angeles Clippers, 95)
- Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets, 95)
- Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers, 95)
- Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks, 94)
- James Harden (Brooklyn Nets, 94)
- Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers, 94)
NBA 2K22 Features: 2K goes deep diving
Like its predecessor, NBA 2K22 looks amazing, eerily lifelike, but 2K insists it makes great strides in terms of gameplay too. On the offensive, you are promised a faster overall feeling, new signature moves, precise jump shooting, immersion in traffic and a greatly improved basketball IQ. On the defensive front, the developer is concentrating on a revised shooting competition and blocking system. “Playing suffocating defenses on the perimeter and in the paint has never felt so rewarding as elite defenders have the opportunity to really change the outcome of the game,” says Visual Concepts.
Visual Concepts released more details on some of these in late August Deep dive gameplay. For example, the best players in the game now feel truly individual: “KD’s big Hesi flanks, Harden’s around / thru leg moves, Steph’s quick machine gun crosses, and Lukass’ methodical rock dribbles are all now under the player’s direct control instead of of a preset movie, ”said Mike Wang, NBA 2K Gameplay Director.
The editor also places great emphasis on defensive AI improvements. “A lot of legacy issues have been addressed with complete and thorough overhauls of almost every major defense system in the game,” says Wang. “The new logic of defensive positioning on the ball gives defenders more consistency in their positioning, regardless of their distance from the basket … [also] We now have the option to have both single and double rotations to take away the first or second passing lane as soon as the defensive aid is triggered. “
Off the pitch, MyTeam – the basketball answer to FIFA’s all-conquering Ultimate Team – is inevitably a major focus. MyTeam Draft takes its bow to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, allowing you to create a new line-up from a constantly updated pool of players, and MyTeam progress and collections are transferable between PS4 and PS5 or Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
“Year-round in NBA 2K22, new challenges, rewards and events make every season fresh and unique in MyTeam,” adds Visual Concepts. “In addition to the many new features that will debut on Day 1 in MyTeam, more additions will come as the year progresses, including an original new game mode this holiday season.”

A massive new change for the next generation is to replace the traditional neighborhood where you upgrade your created player and jump into online matches with the city. It is meant to be bigger than ever and now integrates MyCareer into what is being sold as a single, cohesive experience. You can even take on side projects like starting your own fashion business or dipping your toes – or rather, mic skills – into hip-hop. Very, very interesting.
NBA 2K22 Fan Wish List: Player Hot Streaks and Coaching Trends
While EA efforts like FIFA 21 and Madden 21 prioritized graphics on their next generation debuts, NBA 2K21 celebrated its arrival on PS5 and Xbox Series X with tangible gameplay improvements like Advanced Pro Stick dribbling and adaptive triggers – like that Sprint button with reduced effect when a player is low on stamina. Of course, the wish list of NBA 2K22 features starts with more of them.
Operation Sport poster eslimm wants the trust of the players to be represented on the court, similar to classic NBA jam games. “With the gameplay HUD, a player can [should] warm up or get cold, ”he writes. “[The HUD would] Highlight the notes [in] green or red, indicating an increase or decrease in the attributes from their original starting point. For example, if D’Angelo Russell’s 3-point ability is usually an A-, it would be a B + when it gets cold [with that grade coloured] Red indicates that he has lost weight in this category. In this way, the user knows that these ratings have been affected since the start of the game. “
Mitposter richmo believes that the teams that represent the tactical approaches of their coach would offer more variety on the pitch. “Coach tendencies: YES! We had something like this years ago and it definitely made a difference in team style. Having coaching tendencies would allow a player to play in a certain way in a coach’s system, but if they are playing on a different team / coach they can either play closer or further away from their tendencies without the tendencies themselves to edit. “
on reddit, tayjkeithftnu shifted the focus from the game on the pitch to MyLeague. “I like that we can overwrite the awards at the end of the season, [but] It would be cool if we could also edit the plans for Christmas Day and MLK days, ”he writes. “After the first season, the Christmas Games look like a normal line-up on Monday evening in January. Nobody tries to see the Grizzlies play jazz on Christmas Day. Give us five slots and let’s have a chance to edit who is playing who on those two days. The CPU can generate the rest of the schedule around these days. “
Like many, he also wants to optimize contract negotiations: “Free agents shouldn’t simply be able to reject an offer because the algorithm says it is below their value. You should only consider the offer. The market determines the price. Maybe most of the league has no cap space. No NBA player who really loves basketball will turn down the only offer made because it’s “under” [perceived] Value.”
