National: despite Habib Beye on the bench, the Red Star tilts again

Habib Beye displays a dubious pout before sending his players to greet the Kop de Bauer who sings “Move for the jersey”. Interim coach of the Red Star since the dismissal on Monday of Vincent Bordot, the ex-pro, star consultant on Canal +, has not managed to stop the fall of the Red Star who conceded his 5th defeat in 7 games against Villefranche (0-1). Tracksuit of the club, he remained standing, walking along his bench and showing himself quite demonstrative in these gestures.

As expected, he had made several changes. The most striking was the replacement of Ludovic Butelle (who was not even on the bench) by Paul Charruau, the holder of the last two seasons, in goals. Beye also changed the system by opting for a 3-4-3 with therefore a three-way defense. Another strong choice was the benching of Damien Durand. In the first half, we saw a rather aggressive team, trying things like the restless Guel and Ba. But it was enough of a first collective movement concluded by the Ile-de-France 93 Guillaume Khous (ex-Drancy, Paris FC) for Villefranche to open the scoring (0-1). A goal preserved by Jean-Christophe, Bouet, passed by the Red Star, who has achieved a feat on his line on a point blank attempt by Thibault Vialla (44th).

Never let go by their Bauer audience who continued to encourage them, the Red Star players pushed. We have often seen Beye, with great gestures, encourage his players to move forward. But despite a new change of system (4-2-4), they failed to deceive Bouet. Villefranche remains undefeated (2nd) and the Red Star, relegation (16th). For his big beginnings as a coach, Beye therefore suffered a first defeat. It is not certain that he is still on the bench on Friday in Corsica on the Bastia-Borgo field. The leaders of the Red Star will continue their research and their interviews in the coming days to find a new coach.

“I am in the service of the Red Star,” explains Habib Beye. I was asked to take over, I did it with a lot of energy with the staff and the club. We worked over these 4 days so that we found a team that has personality. We had to refresh the heads, it’s not easy after the 6-0 in Annecy. I had asked the players to be themselves. I told them it wasn’t me who was going to win them over. I didn’t need this match to know that this job is for me. But you have to take time, it’s a construction. Even if it’s a defeat and I hate defeats, being able to offer what we have proposed by assimilating a new system after what we have experienced is positive. I am happy with what we produce the players. “

In other matches, Créteil won a good draw on the field of Sedan (0-0) after his humiliation against Bourg-en-Bresse (1-6). Chambly, him, snatched the draw (2-2) to ten on his field against Bastia Borgo.
