Melillense Selection of Children category

The U-17 and U-15 teams of the Melillense Badminton Federation have been training in the Miguel Fernández Sports Pavilion for their participation in the Spanish School Championship of Autonomous Teams and Inclusive Sports, which will be held in Huelva from tomorrow Thursday until next Sunday, at the Carolina Marín Sports Pavilion.

The competition draw, held at the headquarters of the Spanish Badminton Federation, has produced the following Groups in the Under-15 Children category: Andalusia, Aragón and Murcia (A); Madrid, the Canary Islands, Navarra and La Rioja (B); Catalonia, Valencia, Castilla La Mancha and Galicia (C); and the Balearic Islands, Melilla, Castilla-León and Asturias (D).

For its part, the Under-17 Cadet category is made up of the Groups: Andalusia, Navarra, Canarias and Murcia (A); Galicia, the Balearic Islands, Melilla and Aragon (B); Valencia, Madrid, Cantabria and Extremadura (C); Asturias, Catalonia, Castilla-León and Castilla-La Mancha (D).

After the group stage, which will be played between Thursday and Friday, the elimination rounds will be played on Saturday and Sunday, depending on the position reached in the first round.

Mixed luck

On the other hand, the Melilla teams have had mixed luck, since in the Cadet category they will face Galicia and the Balearic Islands, which have international players, “although with Aragon, we would supposedly play third place” in Group B.

For its part, the Group in the Children’s category “is somewhat more open”, with the Balearic Islands being the great favorite, and in which Melilla has the potential to make a good classification.

The Melilla expedition will depart on Wednesday by air to Malaga, from where it will continue by bus to Punta Umbría (Huelva). In that town, he will stay throughout the Championship at the Hotel Barceló Punta Umbría Mar.
