Max Homa comes back from afar to win the Fortinet Championship

American Max Homa had an excellent final round at the Fortinet Championship on Sunday in Napa, Calif., To take away the honor of the competition.

The 30-year-old took seven punches at par of 72. With that performance, he finished the tournament with a cumulative score of 269 (-19). Homa has, among other things, achieved three birdies and an eagle on his last seven holes. He completed his fourth outing with six birdies, an eagle and a boguey.

Homa beat another American, Maverick McNealy, with a single strike. The latter remained among the leaders throughout the competition, but saw the rug pull the rug out from under him at the last moment. The 25-year-old golfer handed in a final card of 68 (-4).

With a final card of 71 (-1), Taylor Pendrith concluded the event as the top-ranked Canadian, with a cumulative 281 (-7), good for a tie for 36th place.

Adam Svensson finished the tournament in 51st place (284; -4), while Nick Taylor (286; -2) and Michael Gligic (287; -1) seized 64th and 66th respectively.

LPGA: Jin Young Ko wins Cambia Portland Classic

South Korean Jin Young Ko won a cropped version of the Cambia Portland Classic in West Linn, Ore.

Since the third round, scheduled for Saturday, was canceled due to bad weather and ground conditions, the organizers made the decision, before the start of activities on Sunday, to shorten the competition to 54 holes, instead of the Usual 72.

In her last round, Ko easily made her way to victory, she who handed in a card of 69 (-3). Her cumulative score of 205 (-11) allowed her to end the event with four priority shots over her closest pursuer, South Korean Jeongeun Lee.

For her part, Canada’s Brooke M. Henderson hit the white object 73 (+1) times during her final round. She ended the event tied for 38th place, with a cumulative 219 (+3). The other representative of the maple leaf in the running, Alena Sharp, ended her adventure at the back of the pack, in 74th place.
