Later flash of inspiration – sport – SZ.de

It was a pale, but at least a successful farewell from the Grünwalder Stadium: Third division soccer team Türkgücü Munich defeated MSV Duisburg 1-0 (0-0) in their last game at this traditional venue. In just under two weeks, the Munich team will compete in the Olympic Stadium for the first time in the current season and will remain at home there for the time being after a new underfloor heating system was installed there in the summer.

When Türkgücü said goodbye to Giesings heights in front of no more than 600 spectators, two teams met that had been expected significantly higher up in the table; Türkgücü had recently lost two league games significantly. And so coach Petr Ruman gave other players a chance in some positions: Defender Alexander Sorge started for the second time, Ünal Tosun in the middle field for the first time this season. But ambitions to climb a few places up in the table were initially quite difficult to make out: The game against the table neighbors rippled along in the first half, it was seldom really tricky: once Türkgücüs blocked Moritz Kuhn a shot from short Distance from Moritz Stoppelkamp (10th), then the hosts were lucky when the guests ignored a misunderstanding between captain Mergim Mavraj and goalkeeper René Vollath (19th). For the first time, the home fans only got louder in stoppage time in the first half, when Albion Vrenezi forced Duisburg goalkeeper Leo Weinkauf to parade with a long shot – but the lead would not have been deserved at this point, especially since Turkgücü’s top performer Sercan Sararer had few ideas for a successful offensive game.

Before the restart, Sararer clapped his hands: His congenial partner from the previous season Petar Sliskovic came into the game, but the guests still had the first big chance after just a few seconds: Alaa Bakir loaded goalkeeper Vollath after a perfectly played counter-attack, shot the ball but to the external network (46th). Mergim Mavraj then headed just wide of the left post (58th), but in the following minutes the guests still had more of the game. Sararer again served Sliskovic for a header (67th), a little later the 31-year-old veteran was replaced, he left the pitch with a hanging head (76th). The decisive flash of inspiration had to be delivered by someone else. It was Moritz Römling who sent Vrenezi with a pass in front of the opposing goal, the ex-Regensburg man confidently pushed in (81st). Because suddenly nothing more came from Duisburg, at the end of the matchday Türkgücü Munich climbed to tenth place – albeit with a mediocre performance.
