King and Lausanne win the IIHF Champions League

The Swiss team “Lausanne”, represented by Latvian hockey player Ronald Ķēniņš, won the second victory in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Champions League group tournament game on Saturday. “Lausanne” won Cardiff “Devils” from Great Britain with 2: 0 (0: 0, 1: 0, 1: 0). The king made five shots during the game, earned two penalty minutes, blocked three shots and earned a neutral efficiency.

Also in this group, Mannheim’s “Adler” in “bulls” won Rauma’s “Lukko” 2: 1. After four rounds of play, “Adler” and “Lukko” have accumulated eight points, “Lausanne” follows with five points, but “Devils” with two less.

In another game, the Slovak team represented by Krister Gudlevsky at the home of “Slovan” in Bratislava gave up 0: 2 (0: 0, 0: 1, 0: 1) to “Friborg” from Switzerland. Gudlevsky repelled 27 of the 28 shots. The second goal was scored when Gudļevskis was substituted for the sixth player.

In the second game of this group “Leksands IF” from Sweden won the Czech club “Ocelārži” in Tršinec with 3: 1 (0: 0, 1: 0, 2: 1). The Swedish and Swiss teams with 12 points are at the top of the Group F table, but “Ocelārži” and “Slovan” are currently without points. Meanwhile, the Czech team “Mlada Boleslav” represented by Māris Bičevskis lost to Helsinki IFK in Group B with the guests 1: 2 (0: 0, 1: 1, 0: 1).

Bichevsky played for 15 minutes and 18 seconds, during which he scored twice and won in eight throws. He earned a neutral efficiency. The Swedish club Frolunda Indians in Gothenburg won the Zurich Lions 4: 3 (0: 1, 2: 0, 1: 2, 1: 0) in overtime. Earned eight points by Frolunda Indians and IFK, Lions followed by seven points, while the Czech club earned one point.

There are 32 teams in the Champions League, divided into eight subgroups of four units each. The main tournament will end on October 13, when each team will have played six games in the group. After that, the elimination tournament will start, the culmination of which will be on March 1, 2022, when the final is planned.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the 2020/2021 season, the tournament was not played. In the 2019/2020 season in the CHL final, Gothenburg’s “Frolunda Indians” won 3: 1 with Hradec Kralova’s “Mountfield”, which included Oskars Cibuļskis. The tournament took place for the first time in the 2014/15 season. It has never played Continental Hockey League (KHL) units before.
