The statement of José Ramón Lobo

Today, September 18, 2021, I want to communicate the immense honor that it gives me to present my candidacy for the presidency of the RFFPA.

The electoral process continues and in the coming weeks the General Assembly of the Royal Football Federation of the Principality of Asturias will elect a new president.

As I say, it is an honor for several reasons:

• In the first place it is, for being able to represent my land, which I love so much.

• Secondly, for continuing to be part of the most beautiful sport in the world, football, to which I have given a large part of my life and from which I have learned so many principles. I hope to continue putting my experience at the service of Asturian football.

• In the last place it is also, and in a very special way for me because, if Asturian football chooses me, it will do so to succeed the most important President in the history of Asturias. This carries an even greater responsibility if possible and will become a difficult and precious challenge at the same time.

We all know that our beloved and admired president, Maximino Martínez, has no intention of running for reelection.

The more than 25 years that Maximino has led our federation are an example of dedication, passion and dedication to Asturian football. What I have learned all these years in different responsibilities in the RFFPA, thanks to the confidence of Maxi, allows me to take this step to lead Asturian football and thus follow the line of work carried out by Maxi and consolidate the position of Asturias within the new strategies that the RFEF is implementing in the most recent period and that will be vital for the nearest future.

I want to take advantage of these lines to publicly show all my appreciation for the figure of Maxi and send all my love to his family. These last three years, I have faced an important responsibility thanks to the trust placed in me by the president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, a great leader and good friend whom I esteem and admire.

You already know me and you know that for me, humility, effort and commitment are non-negotiable values. It has been a unique privilege to put them at the service of Spanish football as president of the National Coaches Committee. I have carried out this work with rectitude, honesty and loyalty. I continue to be at the disposal of the RFEF and its president for whatever they require of me, however, it is time to face the new challenges of Asturian football and I do it full of enthusiasm, courage and counting on the RFFPA team, at that I know very well and that will lead us firmly and safely along the best path. I sincerely hope that Asturian football will give me its trust and return it with work, rigor and unity, with the conviction that we will achieve all the goals and challenges that we set ourselves.
