“It’s unfair that Novak is always the bad guy”

Boris Becker, winner of six Grand Slam tournaments and former world number one, spoke about Novak Djokovic and how unfair he has been treated in recent times, comparing him to Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

“Both the public and the media have to get used to the fact that there are not two, but three who are great as tennis players and as people. It is not acceptable and even unfair that Novak is always the bad guy and Roger and Rafa are always the good guys” expressed the German in a chat with Eurosport.

The former coach of the Serbian also expressed: “It was too much. He had to represent his country, but he is a human being and he can’t win everything all the time, take the pressure and stay in shape.” referring to Novak’s final cry in the decisive US Open match against Daniil Medvedev.

Finally, the German spoke about the future of tennis and the new generation to come. “We have been talking about Federer, Nadal and Djokovic for 15 years because they just won it all. Now we have to get used to talking about the other generation., which bring everything the tennis fan wants. There are guys like Alcaraz, Rune, Sinner, Auger Aliassime plus middle-aged ones like Zverev, Tsitsipas and Medvedev “he concluded Becker.
