Italian Team Lagging Behind in Champions League

Jakarta

Alessandro Del Piero did not expect Italian teams to win the 2021/2022 Champions League. The Juventus legend assessed that the Italian representatives were left behind.

This season’s Champions League rolls around. Chelsea as the defending champion will be the favorite to win again, especially the pace in the English League is still sip and many Blues players have won awards from UEFA.

Another candidate who can win the Champions League is Paris Saint-Germain. The French club is inhabited by many top players, namely Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, to Sergio Ramos.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich are among the contenders for the title. The Citizens were finalists last season and have long had ambitions to become champions, while Bayern are full of experience in this event.

Italian representatives do not seem to be able to win the Champions League this season. Juventus is not in a good condition, Inter Milan is often windy, AC Milan has just returned to this event after a long absence despite having seven titles, and Atalanta can still be said to be an onion team.

“Chelsea have great quality and have strengthened the squad. They are first in line with Paris Saint-Germain,” Del Piero told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Manchester City and Bayern Munich are right behind, then the other English and Spanish teams.”

“At the moment, Italy is lagging behind: we have to get used to starting from a better idea and lower costs. But the assessment of the start of the season doesn’t always match the final result.”

Juventus are the only Italian club to last to the Champions League final in 2017. The Old Lady at that time lost 1-4 to Real Madrid.
