Just before the half hour, the English second division Luton Town already had a 3-0 lead against Swansea City. A quiet afternoon, you would think. But that was not counting Luton midfielder Henri Lansbury. When Ryan Manning tried to prevent a quick free kick from the home side, Lansbury nearly kicked the visitors’ left back in half.
An outrageous and extremely unsportsmanlike foul, but Lansbury got away – very cheaply – with a yellow card. In addition, his victim, Manning, also received a yellow card for trying to prevent the quick free kick. And if that wasn’t enough, the Swansea player also got a rant from a Lansbury team-mate on top.
Lansbury and Luton Town thus escaped a red card, but still handed over the victory. In added time, Swansea City crowned a strong comeback with the equalizer: 3-3.
