In basketball, Mexico under 15 wins gold in Belgrade

Belgrade.- The national basketball team closed its participation in the U-15 World School Games with a flourish, by winning the final of the discipline (69-52) against Serbia, a result with which it was proclaimed champion, for the first occasion in said contest.

With this result, Mexico closed its participation in Belgrade, Serbia, with 16 medals product of four golds, eight silver and four bronzes, among the disciplines of athletics, taekwondo and basketball.

As action got underway on the court, the host team achieved a 12-6 lead; however, Mexico reacted in the second quarter and turned the score around 17-16. From that moment, the Aztec team took over the game and went to the front of the board to go to rest with a 37-24 advantage.

For the third quarter, Mexico continued to dominate the match and closed with a score of 56-42, but in the last minutes of the game, Serbia managed to get closer to 52-56, but in their eagerness to stop the tricolor offensive, they committed a series of fouls , which were used by the nationals to increase the advantage of 69-52 and seal the victory.

During their participation, the squad led by Adolfo Placencia Figueroa and Gerardo Rochín left Macedonia, 72-47; Serbia, 71-37 and France, 69-52, so they reached the final undefeated.

The World Cup fair brought together 2,500 participants from 35 countries, who saw action in 14 disciplines.

The tricolor team is made up of: Daniel de Jesús Pedroza Díaz, Diego Arturo Méndez González, Emiliano Castañeda Ventura, José Manuel Delgado Fonseca, Ángel Alberto Ochoa Salas, Maximiliano Meza Bolieve, Gael Aarón Hernández Casas, Alfonso Vélez Zepeda, Yave Alejandro Escudero Pérez, David Aarón Fragoso Elenes, Maximino Soto Godínez and Octavio Moya Castro.
