Here is the Intuit Dome, the future room of the Clippers | NBA

This September 17 marks the start of work on the new Clippers’ room in Inglewood. A ceremony is even planned for the occasion where will be present Steve Ballmer, the owner of the franchise, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, or the president Gillian Zucker, the coach Tyronn Lue, not to mention the mayor of Inglewood, James Butts.

This Friday, we learned that the room would be called the Intuit Dome since the Clippers signed a 23-year contract with Intuit, a publisher of software and accounting applications for professionals. This 18,500-seat hall should welcome the Clippers in three years, for the 2024/2025 season.

This future “basketball mecca,” as Steve Ballmer puts it, is essential for the franchise.

“We will be able to have our own identity”, rejoices the owner of the Clippers for USA Today. “And that’s awesome. Our team will get better and better. I think we are already seen as a good destination for free agents, Kawhi Leonard showed it, but we need to win titles and have our own venue. “

As close as possible to the field

The Clippers will no longer share the Staples Center with the Lakers, will no longer suffer from the comparison with the history of the Los Angeles first team nor will they cohabit with the Kings in the NHL.

The new Inglewood hall will not host hockey matches, for example, and the Clippers will have a little more control over their schedule.

“If you are an absolute fan, this will be the best room”, Steve Ballmer. “We’re going to allow you to be as close to the game as possible, more than any other room in the league, except Utah maybe. We will also do everything to ensure that people do not stray long from their seats. Because I can’t stand to see empty seats for so long. “

And the ceiling in all this? This new venue will need banners to shine and for now, the franchise still has no shirts removed… “You have to have some very good ones to hang”, underlines the former CEO of Microsoft. “We’ll see what that looks like over time. “
