Griezmann changed everything, Kessié saw red

The saving goal of Griezmann, the courage of the Milanese, but also the red card of Kessié: find our Tops and Flops of AC Milan-Atlético Madrid (1-2).

Tops

Griezmann’s saving goal
“Grizou” is back! His return to Atlético was not viewed very favorably by Colchoneros supporters who are still very far from having forgiven him for his transfer to FC Barcelona. Disappointing since the start of the season, the French international seemed to have lost his football, he who was no longer even holder. On the bench at kickoff, Griezmann turned into a savior at San Siro on Tuesday. His entry into play in place of Koke (61st) changed everything. Upon receiving a very good cross from Renan Lodi, the Frenchman emerged to score a saving goal, with a sublime left foot volley, perfectly balanced (84th). Realizing the very clear domination of Atlético in the second half, he hurt Milan a lot and contributed greatly to his team’s victory.

The courage of the Rossoneri
Difficult to bring out someone in particular as the players of AC Milan were heroic ten against eleven on Tuesday evening. The omnipresence of Brahim Diaz, the courage of Bennacer, the good entry of Tonali … Imposing a big physical challenge on the Colchoneros, the men of Pioli showed a great face. If they cracked at the very end of the match, the AC Milan players are far from unworthy. Their incessant pressing allowed them to logically lead to the score thanks to Rafael Leao (20th). Quickly reduced to ten following the expulsion of Kessié (29th), they gave everything to preserve their advantage. They were also not far from achieving it but cracked at the very end of the game twice on goals from Griezmann (84th) and Suarez (90th +7). Solidarity until the end, but ten against eleven, the mission was practically impossible for the Italians.

Flops

The red of Kessié
We could feel it coming. While his team was well in the game, the Ivorian international went completely crazy. In his duel with Marcos Llorente, he clearly abdicated. Warned very early in the match for a foul play, a collision on the Spanish international (15th), the Milanese midfielder, yet experienced, lost his nerves. Once again jostled by the same man, the 24-year-old has reoffended, which he paid dearly. Again guilty of a fault on Llorente, he received a second yellow card, synonymous with expulsion (29th): the turning point of the match. AC Milan was therefore reduced to ten for the rest of the meeting. This premature exit weighed heavily on the rest of the game. If the Rossoneri were brave, they did not give up physically, outnumbered.

The entrance to Ballo-Touré
Dirty evening for Fodé Ballo-Touré. Launched by Stefano Pioli to compensate for the injury of the very good Brahim Diaz (57th), the Senegalese side made an absolutely disastrous entry into play. The former AS Monaco player seemed totally inhibited by the issue. Particularly feverish, he was the author of numerous losses of bullets which could have had serious consequences. Between technical approximations and questionable choices, he was simply not at the level of the other players on the pitch. He helped penalize his team which was already playing at ten against eleven. If the Monegasque club have decided not to keep him, there is undoubtedly a reason.
