Freiburgs Flekken nominated for the first time for the Dutch national team – SC Freiburg

“He seems to be a very good goalkeeper,” said Holland coach Louis van Gaal about SC keeper Mark Flekken – and nominated him for the national team. He hadn’t known him before.

Goalkeeper Mark Flekken from SC Freiburg has been nominated for the first time for the Dutch national soccer team. The 28-year-old goalkeeper of the Baden Bundesliga club is in the Elftal’s provisional line-up for the World Cup qualifiers against Latvia (October 8) and Gibraltar (October 11). The Dutch association announced on Friday.

The strikers Donyell Malen (Borussia Dortmund) and Wout Weghorst (VfL Wolfsburg) are also in the squad.

“He seems to be a very good goalkeeper,” said Bondscoach Louis van Gaal about Flekken after the Dutch beat Turkey 6-1. But he hadn’t known him himself until then.

The former Bayern coach announced on the same evening that his team wanted to watch Flekken at a Freiburg game.
