This year, when the Tokyo Olympics were held, Hoshoryu, who changed the stage of the battle to the ground, showed great success, and his uncle Asashoryu sent a message of encouragement on Twitter. The profile of a 22-year-old young man who grew up to challenge the first yokozuna battle in the autumn place (September place), approaching the episode with his uncle.

The Nagoya place held in July was the main place held in a local city for the first time in a long time. Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, it was held in Tokyo and Ryogoku Kokugikan (at this place), including the cancellation, since it was held in Osaka (spring place) in March last year without spectators.
