BOLASPORT.COM – Former Juventus defender Marco Motta spoke about his team’s draw in the 2021 Liga 1 inaugural match.

Persija Jakarta was forced to give up hope of winning points after being held to a 1-1 draw by PSS Sleman at Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, Bogor, Sunday (5/9/2021)

The team nicknamed the Kemayoran Tiger actually took the lead through Yann Motta’s goal in the 17th minute.

However, PSS managed to equalize thanks to Irkham Milla’s kick in the 67th minute.

Responding to these results, Marco Motta admitted that he did not regret Persija having to share points with PSS.

He considered the players had played optimally throughout the game.

Only fate said otherwise, Persija could only secure one point in the inaugural match.

“Obviously the initial target of the team was to aim for a win and in that match the team actually deserved that,” he was quoted as saying on the league’s official website.

“We did start the competition with a draw but in that game the mentality of the team to win was very high.”
