Hope lives on for the regional league footballers of Wolfsburg Blue Wings: After the incidences have soared nationwide, the Lower Saxony Football and Cheerleading Association (AFCV N) is planning for the first regional league season in two years Ahead. It would start in August and the season has to be over by the second weekend in October. There should be climbers, but not those who have been relegated as things stand. By June 30th, all clubs should let them know whether they are there – otherwise they can be suspended for one year without consequences. In any case, the Blue Wings are very excited. However, Ebert remains a little cautious and first wants to see how the pandemic develops by the deadline. “But if the incidence stays below 35, we will participate in the season.” However, the Wolfsburg have canceled the season for their offspring.

Even with the competitor of the Blue Wings, the Braunschweig Lions II (other relay opponents: Hildesheim Invaders, Hanover Spartans), they are a bit more defensive. From the parallel season of the two, however, you can hear that with the Bremerhaven Seahawks, the Hamburg Blue Devils, the Hamburg Pioneers and the Oldenburg Knights, all four should have spoken out in favor of a start to the season.

So the 2021 season is already casting its shadow. And Ebert, of the 2019 team of Stefan Trienke, dem current football division manager at TV Jahn his team finally wants to coach in a league game. But before that, of course, training is the order of the day. The team has been practicing together again since Monday, first of all the basics are on the program. “The boys haven’t played football for almost two years, so it’s going to be a lot about basics and timing, such as catching the ball.” The players should bring strength and stamina with them from the Corona break, among other things, there were training plans for this. Ebert with a smile: “If you vomited during the first training session, you did something wrong.”

Slowly getting in is especially important with full contact, Ebert doesn’t want to risk injuries here, “we are slowly leading the team back up”. So that everyone is fit for the – hopefully possible – season start in August. And the playing time will not be a walk in the park: “We have eight weeks for six games, if it goes well, there will be a championship game against the first of the parallel season, then a promotion relegation,” Ebert lists. But everyone is happy to accept that when football can finally be played again. Ebert: “I have players with me who are really excited about the start of the season.”
