FC Nantes: a 19-year-old victim of a heart attack

End of training for FC Nantes on Thursday afternoon at the Jonelière Playground. A player from the reserve team, playing in National 2, remains on the ground, victim of discomfort. He was immediately taken care of and evacuated to hospital. In a statement released on Friday, the club stresses that the young man is “currently hospitalized. Out of respect and at the request of the family, we will not disclose their identity. (…) FC Nantes gives all its support to the player as well as to his family and loved ones. “

The accident took place at the end of training. Cardiac massage was performed on the lawn, with a defibrillator. The 19-year-old was quickly taken care of by rescuers and transported to the Nantes University Hospital. According to Ouest-France, he was plunged into an artificial coma.

The game of the reserve initially scheduled for this Saturday is postponed. Stéphane Ziani’s men were to face Andrézieux as part of the seventh day of National 2 (fourth level of French football). The first team coached by Antoine Kombouaré will move for its part to Angers, Sunday (3 pm), at the Raymond-Kopa stadium, for the sixth day of Ligue 1. It currently occupies 14th place in the standings with four points.

“We have a big thought for the youngster who had discomfort in training. We hope that he will recover quickly and that all will be well for him, ”reacted goalkeeper Alban Lafont on Friday at the start of his press conference.
