A 20-year career, how has baseball changed in this period?
“And already there have been 22 seasons in the first team between SerieA1 and SerieA2, certainly the first years there was much more following and participation, especially with Nettuno in the Finals Series, with Bagialemani as coach he made me debut, there was Steno Borghese so many people, an incessant cheering that pushed you. This has been lost a little, now even in the most important matches there is not a lot of passion. While the level has risen in baseball played, many young people are as motivated as we were, I see them, even considering they are from a different generation, they are more polite, while we were rougher, but in their eyes I see the same emphasis and passion.
Of course my first years were priceless, having the pleasure of playing with sacred monsters such as De Franceschi, D’Auria, Bagialemani, Casolari, Barboni who had made the history of Neptune, was one of the greatest emotions of my life. I will never forget, and then this last season that it was exciting to play with these guys who made me see me again, in the first seasons. “
What has been your biggest disappointment and your greatest satisfaction in your career?
“The satisfactions have been so many, from the youth national teams, in which I participated as a boy, I remember my first European championship in Prague at 12, I played to play and have fun, and I didn’t think about numbers and statistics. At the end of the event, the whole audience called my name, I did not understand why, and my coach pushed me with a kick and told me you want to go get the Cup as the best hitter, then many other moments of my career are imprinted in my mind, entering the first team with Nettuno, the first valid in Serie A1, the debut at Steno Borghese, the Anzio Nettuno derby with Massimo Casseri pitcher and receiver Simone Bosco, the disappointment ……. Your 2021 championship was experienced as a protagonist, best hitter for RBI in the Academy of Neptune team, in a team that often presented 2/3 of the U18 line up and also winning, how do you judge this team that finished in crescendo?
“I lived the season in a tiring way, because I had a serious injury in April, the month before starting, I struggled a lot to get into condition, the injury severely limited my performance on the pitch, then slowly it was the satisfaction of being able to help the team, the pleasure you feel when the coach puts you back in third place in the line up, was tiring but beautiful. Then seeing the constant growth of the guys that made me so happy, I lived this season almost as a technical staff, given the age difference, I approached as an integral part of the staff, listening to them, with advice, supporting them on several occasions.
It was a complex season, but in the end it gave us many positive sensations and emotions and seeing these 15/16/17 year old boys and seeing them enter the field in Serie A, with determination and a smile was the greatest satisfaction. . “
In the past years you have been one of the protagonists of the national FastPitch scene, how do you see the future of this discipline in Italy (last two seasons canceled due to COVID)?
“This career, albeit short, has given me a lot, in this discipline I do not stop, I will continue to do amateur tournaments where it happens, whatever to keep playing. Unfortunately, even this season it was not possible to organize a competition, I really hope next year. Now the most important winter tournaments will begin, such as the Trieste Open, in which I will certainly participate, and I hope to continue that the FIBS and with the clubs will be able to restart the championship, considering that the last season played had seen 12 participating teams. , with Sicily, Friuli Venezia Giulia beyond our areas, the fast pitch had begun to take hold, unfortunately there were these two years of stoppage, hoping that they were not fatal. We hope to start over and bring an Italian team to European competitions, as we have done in recent seasons. “
