European bronze for Scutto, Lisciani and Pelligra in Luxembourg

From 9 to 11 September 2021 there were the individual European Judo Championships in Luxembourg for the junior, male and female class, while on 12 September there will be the European team championships, in which Italy will not compete.

Thursday 9 September:

  • Female category: -48; -52; -57 kg

Friday 10 September:

  • Female category: -63; -70 kg
  • Male category: -73; -81 kg

Saturday 11 September:

  • Female category: -78; +78 kg

Sunday 12 September:

    • Female weights: -57 kg; -70 kg; +70 kg

In the women’s categories they compete: Assunta Scutto (-48 kg), Federica Silveri and Giulia Carnà (-52 kg), Chiara Zuccaro and Veronica Toniolo (-57 kg), Sara Lisciani and Thauany David Capanni Dias (-63 kg), Martina Esposito (-70 kg) and Asya Tavano (+78 kg).

In the men’s categories: Giuseppe De Tullio and Simone Aversa (-60 kg), Alexandru Comerzan (-66 kg), Luigi Centracchio and Vincenzo Pelligra (-73 kg), Bright Maddaloni Nosa (-81 kg), Daniele Accogli and Jean Carletti ( -100 kg) and Lorenzo Rossi (+100 kg).

Results of Italy

Italy won three bronze medals with Assunta Scutto (-48 kg), Sara Lisciani (-63 kg) e Vincenzo Pelligra (-73 kg), three fifth places with Federica Silveri (-52 kg), Veronica Toniolo (-57 kg) e Luigi Centracchio (-73 kg) and two seventh places with Giulia Carnà (-52 kg) e Asian Ceiling (+78 kg).

Assunta Scutto (-48 kg) won with Merve Azak (Tur) and Gemma Maria Gomez (Ger), while in the semifinal she lost with Irena Khubulova (Rus), graduate then European champion, and in the final for the bronze she won with Raquel Brito (Por).

Federica Silveri (-52 kg) she won with Rebeka Keller (Hun) and in the quarter-finals with compatriot Giulia Carna, while she lost in the semifinals with Chloe Devictor (Fra), who later became European vice-champion, and in the final for the bronze with Erza Muminoviq (Kos).

Giulia Carnà (-52 kg) she won with Gabriela Dimitrova (Bul) and then lost with her national team mate Federica Silveri.

Chiara Zuccaro (-57 kg) he won with Ana Skrabl (Slo) and then lost with Kerem Primo (Isr), who became European champion.

Veronica Toniolo (-57 kg), European bronze in 2020, World Cadet Champion in Almaty in 2019 and gold at the European Cadet Championships in Warsaw and bronze at the EYOF in Baku in the same year, gold at the Youth Olympic Games in 2018, she won with Anna Kriza (Hun) and Marta Garcia Martin (Esp). She then lost in the semifinals with Faiza Mokdar (Fra), European vice-champion at the end of the day, and in the final for the bronze with Lisa Grabner (Aut).

Sara Lisciani (-63 kg) he won with Alice Pereira (Por), then lost in the quarterfinals to Joanne Van Lieshout (Ned). In recoveries he won the golden score with Habibe Afyonlu (Tur) for the sum of three shido and won the bronze medal with the victory for ippon over Melodie Turpin (Fra).

Thauany David Capanni Dias (-63 kg) lost to Florentina Ivanescu (Rou) in the first round.

Martina Esposito (-70 kg) she lost to Lara Cvjetko (HRV), who later became European vice-champion.

Asian Ceiling (+78 kg) won with Salome Makishvili (Geo), but then lost in the quarterfinals with Lea Fontaine (Fra), graduated then European champion, and in the repechage she lost to Kinga Wolszczak (Pol).

Giuseppe De Tullio (-60 kg) he won with Uladzislau Dubrouski (Blr) and lost with Giorgi Sardalashvili (Geo), silver medal at the end of the day.

Simone Aversa (-60 kg) he won with Gaizka Porras Ferreiro (Esp) and lost with Maximilian Standke (Ger).

Alexandru Comerzan (-66 kg) he won with Alexandru Izvoreanu (Mda) and lost with Tengo Zirakashvili (Geo).

Luigi Centracchio (-73 kg) he won with Kostas Butkus (Ltu), Dato Matsoukatov (Cyp) and Gergely Adorjani (Hun). Unfortunately he lost in the semifinals with Jus Mecilosek (Slo), who then got the silver medal, and in the final for the bronze with Javier Pena Insausti (Esp).

Vincenzo Pelligra (-73 kg) won with Urh Klopcic (Slo), Nariman Mirzayev (Aze) and Rostyslav Berezhnyi (Ukr), in the semifinals he lost in the semifinals with Adrian Sulca (Rou), European champion at the end of the day, and won in the final for the bronze with Jano Ruebo (Ger) at the ippon golden score.

Bright Maddaloni Nosa (-81 kg) he won with David Ivanian (Dnk) and lost with Arnaud Aregba (Fra), who later became European vice-champion.

Daniele Accogli (-100 kg) he won with Alex Cret (Rou) and lost with Ilia Sulamanidze (Geo), then bronze medal.

Jean Carletti (-100 kg) he won with Nikodem Kubiak (Pol) and lost with Zsombor Veg (Hun), European vice-champion of the category.

Lorenzo Rossi (+100 kg) lost in the first round to Igor Vracar (Srb).
