Sports Newsroom (USA), Sep 17 (EFE) .- The Los Angeles Clippers held this Friday the official ceremony for the start of construction work on their new field that will bear the name Intuit Dome and is expected to be completed by 2024.
The project also includes training facilities, team offices for basketball and business operations, and retail space.
The owner of the Clippers, billionaire Steve Ballmer, was present at the event that was held in Inglewood (California), where the new stadium will be built for a value of 1.800 million dollars, all financed with private funds, and will have a capacity than 18,000 viewers.
After several years of working meetings to define the design of the field, and despite the coronavirus pandemic, those responsible for the construction have met all the established deadlines.
According to the information offered by the team, the field will collect the latest advances in technology, computers, electronics and will allow fans to have a new experience, as well as feeling as if they were in their own home.
The latest technological advances will be picked up everywhere, like some that will allow fans to leave their seats, walk to a concession stand on the esplanade, grab a drink or snack, and then return to their seat.
There would be no cashier, no one to take the order and the customer’s account would be charged automatically.
Legroom for fans when seated will be a constant throughout on the court, from the lowest rows to the top, far exceeding the standard currently found in most arenas in the NBA. .
All seats will be oriented so that each fan can have the best view of what is happening on the field, no matter where they are.
That concept is what has led the Clippers and those responsible for the design and construction of the Intuit Dome to call it “The Wall.”
The new sports hall is designed so that the acoustic factor can make the most of the noise generated by the fans to give all the support to the team and you can feel the difference of playing at home.
Until they can have their own Intuit Dome field completed, the Clippers will keep the Staples Center, as their headquarters, the same one they share with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Ice Hockey League (NHL).
