Peñarol announced DeAndre Liggins for LUB 2021/22.

Peñarol had already confirmed his three foreigners for the next LUB. However, Huertas could take a long time to reach Uruguay due to the good performance his team is having in the BSN of Puerto Rico. This reason led to the hiring of Liggins to have three outsiders when the LUB begins. While Peñarol’s idea is for Huertas to join the squad as soon as his participation in Puerto Rico ends, Liggins could stay permanently if his performance convinces.

DeAndre Liggins played on 7 NBA teams, in which he played 177 games in total. In the 2016/17 season he was teammates with LeBron James in the Cleveland Cavaliers, a team in which he played 61 games (19 as a starter).

In addition, DeAndre played in the G-League (where he was champion at one time), as well as in Russia, Germany, Greece, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Liggins was one of the foreigners confirmed by Libertadores de Querétaro for the next LNBP in Mexico. However, he was cut before the season started due to an injury (pubalgia and tear of the right abductor muscle) which is estimated to be inactive until the end of October, which is when the next Uruguayan League begins.

Peñarol has already confirmed the five national cards for the next edition of the LUB: Diego García, Salvador Zanotta, Martín Aguilera, Nicolás Borsellino and Diego Soarez. As for the foreigners, Liggins joins John Flowers and Lee Roberts. The Under 23s will be Gianfranco Espíndola, Marcos Geller and Mateo Giano. The Technical Director will be Pablo López.
