The men of the Blau-Weiß Soest tennis club won 5: 4 in the promotion game of the Association League group winners against TC Kaunitz and thus made the hoped-for leap into the Westphalia League.
Soest – The hosts just prevailed in an exciting duel and remained undefeated throughout the season.
Six years ago, the club voluntarily withdrew its men’s team from the Westfalenliga – now the team with its many talents is back there.
Lemke: “That was a real finale”
“That was a real final,” said BW team spokesman Florian Lemke. Because it was tight and dramatic. In the singles it was equalized 3: 3. The experienced team captain achieved his sixth individual win in the sixth game, hit hard and was never challenged.
Also victorious in number two was 18-year-old Lambert Ruland, who had increased his record to 5: 1 individual victories. “Lambert made few easy mistakes, was well on the way and had a good length in his balls”, praised Lemke Ruland for his two-set success against Majchrowicz from Poland (6: 2, 7: 5).

Top player Rok Komac from Slovakia, on the other hand, suffered his third single defeat this season, he lost in two sets as did the somewhat indisposed Marcel Dinter and substitute Elias Hoffmann.
The hosts made doubles 1 and 3 strong with Komac / Ruland and van de Weteringh / Lemke. It went for Komac / Ruland in the ultimately decisive duel in the match tiebreak. Here they were 1: 4 behind, turned the game to 6: 4 and when the score was 8: 8 it was “on the knife edge”, so Lemke.
The Soester got the next point and transformed the first match point. Before that, Marco van de Weteringh / Florian Lemke had clearly prevailed. The cheering that followed knew no bounds. The promotion ceremony is still to follow and there will also be talks about how the team with the talents will approach the Westfalenliga season in 2022.
