Do you trust the new coach and CEO of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick? If you are an NFL agent, surely the answer to that question is no.
The Athletic’s Ben Standig revealed the results and comments conducted in the publication’s annual agent survey. Let’s just say the New England Patriots’ Bill Belichick doesn’t like him.
Standig asked the NFL: “Of all the coaches and managers, who do you trust the least?” Belichick turned out to be the second least reliable after Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman who got one more vote.
What did the NFL agents say about your deal with Bill Belichick?
Here are three very revealing quotes from the article. An NFL agent failed to call him dishonest, but admitted that working with Belichick was not easy.
He said: “(He) is not dishonest. We just haven’t had a good relationship. He fights hard for what he wants and I do the same, but in the opposite direction. “
A second agent said: “They [Los Patriotas] they always have a plan, and they know how they intend to implement it. From a communication point of view, they are not an organization where you can have a conversation about what is happening with your customers. “
A third agent added: “It’s not that he’s done anything wrong, but his priority is always the team, so he’s always focused on that. Look for people who think like him in that sense. He always had his star quarterback to get away with. ”
NFL agents serve a dual purpose in doing business with NFL teams and officials. The agent wants to get the best deal for his client and that, in turn, helps him fill his bank account. Belichick, like any other CEO in professional sports, will always pursue what is in the best interests of his organization.
The third agent is right because, thanks to the good relationship and excellence he found in Tom Brady, Belichick was able to operate a system that perhaps lacked humanitarian qualities without much consequence.
That is why the next season is so important. Belichick has re-equipped. He has spent a lot of money on free players to show that he can win without Brady.
Some players have had problems with Belichick in the past
Not long ago players like Danny Amendola and Asante Samuel They have expressed dissatisfaction with Belichick’s way of doing business. While highly praised by some, it is clear that the “Hoodie” is not for everyone.
Former N’Keal agent Harry formally asked the Patriots to transfer to your client. Belichick neither relented nor ever acknowledged having ever spoken to Harry’s agent. It was almost as if the transfer request was unworthy of him.
It would be interesting to hear what Cam Newton thinks of Belichick considering he was disaffected from the team last week. For months, Belichick told everyone that Newton was his quarterback. During training camp and all three preseason games, Newton played as a starter, but was eventually pushed aside by Belichick.
Perhaps there were conversations that we are not aware of and those talks allowed both men to reach an agreement. Anyway, it is clear to see why there may be different opinions of the future Hall of Fame member.
