It is finally known where he will play Marc Gasol next season 2021/22. As the Catalan media, L’Esportiu, announced a few moments ago, the veteran Spanish pivot will sign for the Girona Basketball, a team that currently plays in the LEB Oro (the second division of the ACB League), where he already played between 2006 and 2008, and of which he has been its President since 2014.
In this way, Gasol closes the door definitively to FC Barcelona (which in the last hours seemed to have won integers for his signing after the statements of coach Sarunas Jasikevicius) and to a return to the NBA of which it had been spoken that he could occur signing for the minimum veteran with a franchise.
The signing is expected to become official imminently. L’Esportiu affirms that it could even be tomorrow, in an advertisement offered by Marc Gasol himself.
At the moment, Marc first has to finish agreeing his ‘buy-out’ with the Memphis Grizzlies, the NBA team to which he belongs after the transfer agreed last Friday with the Los Angeles Lakers. As soon as that happens, it will take 48 hours for Gasol to leave the waiver list and become an unrestricted free agent.

Marc Gasol had always stated that he wanted to end his professional career at Girona. He has never hidden his love for the Catalan club. While waiting for the duration of the contract that he agrees with his new team, everything indicates that it will be his last destination before retirement.
