The violets are well prepared for the start of the BBL season, with their league competitors on the Elbe an 88:78 (48:40) away win.

The BG Göttingen has completed its preparation for the basketball Bundesliga season with a win. At the league competitor Hamburg Towers, the team of BG head coach Roel Moors won 88:78 (48:40) on Friday evening. The 752 spectators saw a team from Göttingen that really stepped on the gas in the first quarter and laid the foundation for success there. The best BG throwers were Kamar Baldwin (19 points) and Zack Bryant (18).

The Veilchen started with a lot of energy and went 16: 9 in the middle of the first quarter (5th). The Hamburgers tried to stay tuned, but only succeeded in phases (20: 16/7.). Especially Bryant could not stop the Hanseatic League – the US Guard sank two lay-ups in the first section despite fouls (29: 20/10.). In the second quarter things went a little better for the team of Towers head coach Pedro Calles – until Bryant and Haris Hujic each scored a threesome to make it 37:26 (13th). The violets came up with good answers and managed to keep their lead.

After the break, the Towers intensified their defense (53: 50/24.). The subsequent Moors break worked, because the violets moved away again to 60:50 (27th). But the Hamburgers were now exerting more and more pressure and putting the Göttingen in distress. Before the final section, the BG’s lead shrank to five points (69:64). In the last quarter, both teams gave everything on the defensive again. The Hanseatic people came up to one point, but led by Baldwin the guests kept their nerve and achieved success. “We played with a good intensity. We made a few mistakes on the defensive, but it was good nonetheless. We had a good rhythm on the offensive, ”said head coach Moors.

There is also good news with a view to the first BBL home game of Veilchen against Brose Bamberg on Sunday, September 26th, at 3 p.m. Together with the Göttingen health department, the BG’s hygiene and safety concept was adapted to the current Corona ordinance. At appropriate intervals and in compliance with the 2G rule, around 1,800 spectators in the Sparkassen-Arena can watch the game against the team of ex-violet coach Johan Roijakkers. The 2G rule applies to all BG home games until further notice. This does not apply to children between the ages of six and eleven as well as people who cannot be vaccinated with medical evidence.
