Cologne (SID) – The German national team celebrated the second victory in a row at the EM baseball in Piedmont / Italy. In the first game of the placement round, national coach Steve Janssen’s team beat France 3-2. On Thursday, the selection of the German Baseball and Softball Association (DBV) will meet the winner of the game Sweden against Greece in the semi-finals of the placement round.
On Tuesday, the DBV selection beat Ukraine 15: 5 in the final third round match. Previously there had been defeats against Croatia (2: 8) and Spain (2:15). This means that the quarter-finals were missed – DBV President Jürgen Elsishans had set a top four result as the goal. Two years ago at the European Championships at home, Germany reached sixth place. The EM will be held for the first time with 16 teams.
