Pablo Andjar, number 92 in the ranking at 35, was the fourth Spanish eliminated in the opening round of the Open 250 in Sofa. The Cuenca has yielded this Wednesday at the hands of Ilya Ivashka by 6-4 and 6-3.

With the defeat of Andjar, Spanish tennis is left without representation in the Bulgarian capital since before they lost consecutively Alejandro Davidovich, Pedro Martnez and Jaume Munar.

Ivaskha, who has just reached the semifinals in the Nur-Sultan tournament, added the twenty-ninth victory of this season that confirms him as one of the revelations of this season.

From the hand of Cuenca Pepe Checa, the Belarusian has become the best player in his country and enjoys his best ranking (45), among other things, thanks to his debut in Winston-Salem.

Ivashka broke in the opening game of the match and in the third of the second set to pave her way to victory. With 2-1, the tennis player from Minsk requested the presence of the physiotherapist to treat his back. For a moment he lost concentration and conceded a ‘break’ that made it 2-2 on the scoreboard. However, he would take the lead immediately after and no longer give up.

Monfils, the next

In the second round, the second seed will be measured tomorrow, Gael Monfils, exempted from the initial round and reached last week the penultimate round in Metz. Pablo Carreo was his executioner.
