It’s a bizarre decision that the National Basketball Lionesses coach has just made. Indeed, three days after the publication of his list of 12 players who should take part in Afrobasket 2021, scheduled in Cameroon, from September 17 to 26, he returned to one of his choices. He brought out the interior of the Iseg, Anne Française Diouf who was replaced by Maimouna Diarra.
It is the Senegalese Basketball Federation (Fsbb) which gave the information in a press release.
´´National coach Moustapha Gaye carried out a reorganization of the workforce today. To this end, the player Maimouna Diarra has been recalled to the workforce in place of Anne Françoise Diouf ”, reads the press release.
The national coach explains this reorganization by an imbalance that he felt during the last training sessions in the interior sector. From then on “he felt the need to rebalance”, adds the document.
According to the press release, ´´The national coach apologizes to the player Anne Françoise Diouf and her family. He would like to remind that the player Anne Françoise Diouf does not suffer from any injury and this change is only motivated by sporting reasons. ”
Note that Maimouna Diarra (30) is a regular at the national team. She was even the African champion in 2015.
