Andrés Gómez presented the ‘Gogo Week’, which will take place in Salinas | Other Sports | sports

The III edition of Gogo Week was officially presented on Thursday at a press conference, its promoter and director, the historic Ecuadorian tennis player Andres Gomez Santos, provided details of the children’s competition, which will be held from September 23 to October 3 at the Salinas Golf and Tennis.

“This tournament, in its two weeks, collects in itself what my life was in tennis, my beginnings in the little school of the Guayaquil Tennis Club with Miguel Olvera,” Gómez recalled about his beginnings in tennis, since in Gogo Week Boys and girls from six years of age onwards may participate.

“It is always exciting to return to playing tennis at a child and youth level, because we are going to have the opportunity to see boys who are already the present of Ecuadorian youth tennis and boys who will probably play their first events,” he added.

Gómez also confirmed that this event is a tennis festival that will last two weeks with competitions in the children’s, junior and youth categories, at a national and international level.

Andrés Gómez won 21 professional singles titles, one of those being the Roland Garros 1990, his friends and rivals on the circuit called him ‘Gogo’, a nickname that accompanied him throughout his career.
